Eliza Barchus, named “The Oregon Artist” by Oregon legislature in 1971, in her Multnomah block studio in 1905. Settling in Portland, Oregon in 1880, Barchus painted western mountains and water features that spread a romantic ideal of the West to the rest of the country.
